|DETAILS OF THE AREA|
Swat Valley
Swat the land of magnificent scenic beauty and rich historical places. Its lush green fertile valleys, towering mountains, rushing streams, ice cold lakes, fruit orchids and flowers – filled slopes are some of the gifts nature has bestowed upon this ancient land. It is said that the Swat was filled with fourteen hundred imposing and beautiful stupas and monasteries, which housed as many as 6,000 gold images of the Buddhist pantheon for worship and education.
Murgzar
Few Kms Away away from Saidu Sharief, the capital of Swat valley, Marghazar Hills a very picturesque valley offering green forests and bounty of flora & fauna. This valley is exuberantly lush green with breathtaking panoramas all around, making it one of the most memorable places one can ever see.
White Palace
The greenery of gorgeous landscape persuaded King of Swat Miangul Abdul Wadud (Badshah Sahib) in 1935 to build a summer resort here. The King brought marble from Agra, bronze from Belgium and artisans from Turkey who designed and constructed the palace, completing it in 1941. It was first named Swatti Taj Mahal, later Motti Mahal and now Sufed Mahal (White Palace). Then it was enriched with selective fauna and flora that made it a mini zoo as well as mini botanical garden
Fizagat
The old name of Fizagat was Qazagat; qaza meaning "death" and gat meaning "mount". Thus, Qazagat was called the "Mount of Death". It is said that during the rule of Miangul Abdul Wadud (Badshah Sahib) Wali of Swat, the convicted were punished at the top of this mount.
The park was established in 1984 by then chairman of the Municipal committee of Mingora Malak Bairam Khan. During the 2010 flood, some areas of the park were damaged. Renovation began in June, 2012, performed by the Tehsil municipal administration with the financial assistance of PaaRSA. Rs 3.5 million were allocated for rehabilitation. Additional land of 35,000 ft2 was added to the park. The park was revamped with the cooperation of the Government of Japan in 2013. Rs 14 million had been allocated for the park’s upkeep in 2015.
On 6 July 2015, an expansion project was inaugurated. The project included planting of trees, construction of a bridge, a solar-powered illumination system, expansion and further beautification.
